This is a visualization of air flow over an M-6 wing. The two flat structures are cutting planes that are color mapped to the values of the air pressure along these planes. The "cut-out" region near the center of the image is the physical space of the wing, since there are no measurements within the wing itself that area is empty. The smooth surfaces on either side of the wing represent iso-contours of the mach data. On the surface of these contours the mach values are all equal, inside the surface the mach values are higher, outside they are lower.
